Our local community puts together this Pioneer Day each year, but for some reason we didn't know about it until today! And today was Pioneer Day! What a perfect day to go back to the days of the Pioneers, as we are now five weeks into our American History Cycle with Classical Conversations. We don't officially participate in the CC Community groups for a number of reasons, but some friends of mine and I have our own little Rogue Group. Either way, we've been really enjoying learning about our Nation's history, and this week we'll be learning about George Washington, Samuel Morse, and a number of other influential people of the time! The kids were able to participate in a number of "Chores and Games" from the Pioneer days, visit the local historic museum, walk through the last homestead house in our area, built in 1886, pet a miniature horse, and more! Here are a few snapshots of the day!

This week, kids... we're going to try something new in school! As the primary educator for my children, I am always looking for better ways to do things, or at least looking for anything that will fit our needs and work for our family! Often times, I can't find what I need, so I create it! Here are some of my started, finished, and tossed ideas, as well as things I use and love that other creative people have thought of!
