My dear daughter, in just a couple months, you will be staring what the public schools call "Third Grade". Usually, it is in the 3rd grade children learn cursive. They learn one letter at a time, writing it over and over and over and over again until they can do it perfectly... or at least, they can try to make it look by some stretch of the imagination close-ish to the letter they are taught. But you are not in public school... muahahaha!!! Since you are studying Jonah this summer along with all the other children in the US who are participating in the Bible Bee, I thought it would be a good chance to introduce you to cursive, so I made something for you! Below is a file containing all of your memory verses, starting from the shortest verse in the largest font going to the longest verse in the smallest font. Also below is the entire book of Jonah in large cursive print for you to trace. You will trace them and trace them and trace them until your hand knows what to. You will not have to practice 52 letters 100 times each. You will just trace. And by September, when we "start" school, not only will you have memorized your 24 memory verses AND the book of Jonah, you will have mastered cursive! (At least, that is the thought!) Good thing, too, because next year you will write EVERYTHING in cursive! Muahahaha!!! Oh, yes, younger ones, don't think I'm leaving you out of this fun!!! I made one for you, too, for the memory verses! I know you already can print, and that you have a tracing book of the book of Jonah, but you haven't mastered the lowercase letters so I figured, a little extra practice won't hurt!
These PDFs contain the text of several passages of Scripture as well as the book of Jonah in the New King James Version, as found on biblegateway.com. The fonts can be downloaded free from dafont.com. The cursive font is called "Learning Curve" and the print font is called "KG Primary Dots". You can download and print those as-is; you won't have to download the fonts to print the PDFs. I've also included these documents in Word so you can download the fonts and then change the Bible version without having to fool around with editing and what-not.

I'm sorry to report that the public school system thinks cursive it useless in this generation. If you want cursive you either have to teach it or enroll in a special class that costs tons of money to teach them. I was very sad when I heard my kids are not being taught cursive in elementary.

This week, kids... we're going to try something new in school! As the primary educator for my children, I am always looking for better ways to do things, or at least looking for anything that will fit our needs and work for our family! Often times, I can't find what I need, so I create it! Here are some of my started, finished, and tossed ideas, as well as things I use and love that other creative people have thought of!
