You will want to print a copy of the US map (either color or black & white) AND a copy of the world map. Put them in plastic page protectors. Having a nice set of ultra-fine tip dry-erase markers will very helpful as well! For younger kids, have some tracing paper on-hand. For older kids, you may want them to make a layered geography book of the US by tracing the US map with fine-tip permanent markers onto plastic laminating sheets. Each sheet will be a unique set of information. See below for examples.

Recommended for a weekly history supplement is "A Child's History of the World" by Virgil M. Hillyer. For us, we will just use this book as a quick survey of world history every year in conjunction with the Classical Conversations Timeline song. The corresponding chapters will be listed each week.
