Geography: Locate these places on a globe or map.
New York, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts Week 5: Lansing, Michigan (MI) Columbus, Ohio (OH) Indianapolis, Indiana (IN) Frankfort, Kentucky (KY) Nashville, Tennessee (TN) Trace a basic map of the US onto tracing paper, including these 5 states and the locations of their capitals. Older students can trace the same onto laminating sheets with fine-tip permanent markers to make a keepsake layered map book of the US states, capitals, and physical features.

Science: Digestive System
Make a digestive system t-shirt or apron. Get the printables here. Copy the image into a Word document. They are the right size for older children. For smaller children, shrink the images to about 60%. Cut out and trace onto different color felt pieces. Use fabric glue to adhere to shirt or apron. Alternate: Get a plain craft apron. Trace the apron onto a large piece of felt, with about 4-6" extra length on the bottom. Cut out apron-shaped felt and glue to apron with fabric glue. Fold extra felt up and glue to make a pocket. Cut out the organ shapes as described above, using colors that show well against apron felt. Label each organ. You can use and reuse this apron to place organs in the correct places like an old-style felt board! You can also make other organs: heart, lungs, kidneys, bladder, spine, ribs, etc.! Store all organs in the felt pocket you made! This is kind of the idea.

English Grammar:
Practice conjugating common verbs into four different tenses. We printed my practice page out and put it in a page protector so we can use it again and again, just erasing when done to save on ink and paper.

Presentations (Public Speaking):
Show some of your art from our artist study of John White and tell us something you learned while studying him. Next week's presentation: Do a simple cooking demonstration. Examples: how to make a PB&J, how to fry an egg, how to make tea, etc. Include a listing of supplies and ingredients and be ready to demonstrate. Presentation for Week 7: |
